September 29 – October 3, 2019. Scientific Secretary of ISCRAN, polit. n Evseenko A.S. took part in the Fourth International Forum ‘Russia and Iberoamerica in a Globalizing World: History and Modernity’, organized by St. Petersburg University.

October 3 Evseenko A.S. opened the session ‘Political crisis in Venezuela: internal imperatives and external projection’ with a report ‘Latin America and the Middle East: common ground and prospects for rapprochement between the two regions.’ At the end of the session, he answered questions on the problem of adaptation of Middle Eastern refugees in South America. During the discussion of the report, Dr. Arturo Lopez Levy spoke about the policy of the Chilean authorities in accepting refugees, as well as the general influence of the United States on the position of Latin American countries on the issue of refugees. The report made by Andrey Sergeyevich received positive reviews, including from the director of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. D.V. Razumovsky.

Within the framework of the forum, a discussion was held of the prospects for strategic changes in Cuba’s political course through the prism of US-Cuban relations at the present stage. The forum was also addressed by Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Russia R. Lagorio. He devoted his speech to the prospects for the development of Argentine-Russian and Argentine-American relations.
