A collective monograph prepared by the staff of the Institute of the United States and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences is devoted to the latest trends and contradictions in the development of the world’s largest economy – the US economy. Particular attention is paid to the state and prospects of the American economy after the devastating financial crisis of 2008–2009. The monograph, consisting of seven sections, discusses the features of the post-crisis economic development after the presidential elections of 2016. The state and trends of the financial market and budget, the state and prospects of social development, the role and place in the economic development of scientific and technical potential, the US position on global financial markets. Special attention is paid to the work of the state of the agricultural sector of the country, as well as the state and prospects of the energy sector and the US energy strategy.
